Lynn Spry, 63, of Grand Portage died on Monday, January 16, 2017 at home surrounded by her family after a valiant battle of nearly two years with cancer.
She was born on December 3, 1953 to Malcolm and Harriet (Emerson) Londo in Mahnomen where she grew up and attended school in Naytahwaush. After her marriage to Paul “Duane” Spry in 1974, she made her home in Grand Portage and was employed for many years in health services in Grand Marais and Grand Portage.
Lynn enjoyed softball, baking bread, berry picking, puzzles, the casino, bingo, collecting anything with ladybugs, making rag rugs, Danielle Steel books, time with her family and caring for others. Her greatest joy was being with her grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Grand Portage.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin sons, Nathan and Christopher Spry; and sisters, Bonnie Wadena and Loris LaFriniere.
She is survived by her husband, Duane; sons, Paul (Jennifer) Spry, and Chad (Nicole) Spry; grandchildren, Samantha Jacobsen, Leah Utities, Alyssa Spry, Trent Spry, Caiden Spry and Nicholas Spry; her step-mother, Opal Londo; brothers and sisters, Ardyce McCradie, Leah Hagen, Merlin Londo, Ray Londo, Candace (Willie) Peters, Corvin (Arlene) Londo, Louis Londo, Dawn Londo, Myra (Rick) Accobee, and Joel (Lynette) Londo; step-brothers and sister, Leo Jacobson, Keith (Karen) Jacobson, Earl Jacobson, and Lila (Delvis) Jones; and a special friend and sister-in-law, Shirley Stevens; brothers-in-law, Curt Bevins, and Floyd LaFriniere; and many, many, many nieces and nephews she loved very much.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Stover, nurse Lolly, and all the clinic and hospital staff for their care of Lynn.
Rosary service will be held at Noon on Saturday, January 21, 2017at St. John’s Catholic Church in Grand Marais, with cake and coffee to follow downstairs. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday January 23rd with a Rosary service at 6:30 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Naytahwaush. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 24 at St. Anne’s. Burial will be in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
