Lorraine Kirsch, 79, died on October 10, 2012, following a brief illness. As she took her final breath, the sun broke through the clouds to illuminate her face as her Savior opened the gates of heaven to welcome her. 'The Lord said unto her, "Well done thy good and faithful servant: thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the glory of thy Lord."' Matthew 25:12
Our beloved mother and grandmother was born on August 18, 1933, to Axel and Mabel (Munter) Olson in Fosston, MN. She graduated from Fosston High School and moved to Minneapolis where she met and married Reuben Kirsch, and together they moved to the Two Harbors area in 1957, where they raised their family. She held a variety of jobs, selling Tupperware, and most recently working for the Lake County Historical Society. However, her most important job was raising her children.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for 40 years, and following that attended Evangelical Free Church. Our mother had a love for animals which began during her childhood on her family's farm and continued to the end with rescuing and taming strays. She was an inexhaustible volunteer, spending many hours and going many miles on behalf of others. She was an active board member for Community Partners, was an integral part of the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, and generously supported many causes about which she was passionate.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Vernon and Marvin, a sister, Adelyn, two infant siblings and grandson, Nathan.
Our precious mom will be honored and cherished forever in the hearts of her children; Steven (Janelle) Kirsch of Kasson, MN; Peg (Dave) Lee of Duluth, MN; Beverly (Doug) Hinton Jaeger of Inver Grove Heights, MN; and Karen, (Tom) Andersen of Duluth, MN; grandchildren Phillip, Janae, Gretel, Elsa, Elias, Grace, Levi, Cosette, Montana, Jordan, Emily, and Nicholas; and sister, Norma.
She was adored by her grandchildren, for whom she had a deep and abiding love, and which was second only to her great love and devotion to God.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband also, and her praiseth her." Proverbs 31:28
