Lois Quigley, 87, of Two Harbors, died Sunday June 7, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital, with her family at her side.
She was born August 7, 1927 to Louis and Esther (Wiklund) Johnson in Two Harbors, where she was a life-long resident. After graduating from high school as salutatorian in 1945, Lois was employed as a secretary for the Lake County Attorney for six years. After her marriage to Robert Quigley on November 17, 1951 she was a homemaker through the years and bookkeeper for the family business- Quigley Distributing. In the 1970’s she attended beauty school and worked as a hairdresser for several years.
Lois was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. As a young lady, she played accordion in a band with her sister, Marian as “Johnson Sisters Orchestra”
Her greatest joy was her family including babysitting her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, baking and helping Brenda with her dance studio and recitals.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Quigley in 1996, and a sister, Marian Beatty.
She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Brenda (Dale) Moe; granddaughters, Tricia (Jeremy) Hurd and Darci (Luke) Claflin; great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Alicia Hurd, and Ryan and Calli Claflin; a sister, Evelyn Hastings; a sister-in-law Virginia Anderson; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Wednesday June 10, 2015 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
