Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend
Lois Peterson, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the age of 85, after a brief stay at Carefree Living in Silver Bay
She was born an only child to Ted and Viola (Nikolai) Simington in Chaska, MN on December 29, 1931. They moved soon thereafter to Finland, MN where she lived on one small dirt road for most of her life. Lois married Clyde Peterson April 30, 1949, and they were married 50 years until Clyde’s passing in 2000.
Lois and Clyde have two children, Brenda (Ron) VanBergen and Roger (Tammie) Peterson; and two beloved grandchildren: Amber (Barret) Stavseth and Dustin Peterson. All reside on the same small dirt road endearingly known as Petersonville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Anna (John) Myhr and Serene (Dale) Wesala.
Lois always worked –school bus driving, school custodian, tax-preparer, Assistant Manager of Beaver Bay Holiday Station and A.E.O.A. bus driver. As a devoted Christian, she was very involved with her church- Zion Lutheran , now Baptism River Community Church.
In her early years she loved to fish, something she inherited from her father. Lois loved to travel, go to casinos, and enjoyed music. Clyde and Lois were extraordinary dancers. Willie Nelson was especially her favorite “cruzin’” music. Lois had a way of making those around her feel special and loved. Peace spread out around her and others gathered to her. We surrounded and cared for her to the end, with special help from her sweet angel of a dog Emmy.
The family would like to thank Essentia cancer doctors and nurses, hospice care and Carefree Living for all their supportive care over the many years. We greatly appreciate all the home visits and help and love from family and friends, while Lois was in respite care at her home.
Visitation will be from 2 PM until the 3 PM Service Friday September 29, 2017 at Baptism River Community Church in Finland. Burial will be in Crystal Bay Cemetery.
