Lisa Pettis

Lisa Pettis, 55, Duluth/French River, died Saturday April 6, 2019 at her home.

Lisa was born November 21, 1963 to Gary and Mary Ann (Lukkonen) Sironen.  She attended North Shore Elementary and graduated from Two Harbors High School, later studying nursing at UMD and completing school at Lake Superior College as a Health Unit Coordinator.

Lisa married Kevin Pettis on March 13, 1994 at French River Lutheran Church. Their daughter Haeli was born June 25, 1998.

Lisa was employed as an office manager and human resources coordinator for Menards for 15 years, then worked for the past 14 years as a Health Unit Coordinator for Essentia Health/ St. Mary’s Medical Center. She worked in NSICU and then went to work in the Surgery Department where it was challenging and interesting every day.  Lisa really enjoyed working with their team and developed a special bond with the doctors and nurses she worked with.

Lisa developed a passion for football, and all things purple with the help of her husband…enjoying many fine afternoons with family and friends cheering for the Vikings.  She loved to travel with her family but also knew when it was time to come back home so she could be with her animals; 3 dogs- Daisy, Abby, and Bear and the family pig, Charlotte, whom she adored and trained.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin and daughter, Haeli; as well as her mother, Mary Ann Sironen; brother, Todd Sironen; along with many special cousins and good friends.  Lisa was preceded in death by her daughter, Maija Pettis; father, Gary Sironen; father-in-law, Terry Pettis; and grandmothers Eileen Sirny, Evelyn Lukkonen Tietsort, and Hilda Pettis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to French River Lutheran Church or Animal Allies.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at French River Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Palmers at a later date.
