Lillian Thornborrow Munson

Lillian Merle Thornborrow Munson, Our Queen Mum, 89, passed away peacefully in her home, in Silver Bay, MN on November 24th 2014.

She was born June 2, 1925 in Oadby, England.  She married Leslie Raymond Thornborrow in 1944.  She survived blackouts, air raids, food rations, and all the turmoil of World War II.  She followed her sister in 1951 to Brainerd, MN where she raised her children.  In 2001, she moved to Silver Bay to be closer to family, where she lived 13 happy years.  She built a new life there with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren next door, although she longed for England. She loved knitting for family and the needy, baking, trips to the casino, visits from her family, English TV, and attending the Bay Area Vineyard church.

She is preceded in death by husband, Leslie Thornborrow; second husband, Jess Munson; sisters, Rhea Taylor, and Joyce Mudford; daughter, Lesley Baker and great grandson, Jeremy Armstrong.

Merle is survived by her sister, Joan Macheel, brother, Dennis Ward;  children, Danny Thornborrow, Thomas Thornborrow (Gloria), Kerry Sue Larson (Wayne); grandchildren, Laney Armstrong (Erik), Jaime Baker, Dylan Thornborrow (Chistine), Mark Thornborrow (Maureen), Tyler Thornborrow (Misty), Dustin Thornborrow (Audrey), Nathan Thornborrow, Angela Vreeke (Mike), Crystal Larson, Trevor Larson; great grandchildren, Anthony Armstrong, Justin Baker, Julian Baker, Ethan Armstrong, Madison and Emily Thornborrow, Ella Thornborrow, Kaiden Thornborrow, Sebastian Baker; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service celebrating her life on Friday, November 28th at 1:00 PM at the Bay Area Vineyard, 99 Edison Blvd. Silver Bay, MN.
