Leonard Sve

November 21, 1926 — July 21, 2014

Leonard R. Sve, 87, of Silver Creek Township, died Monday July 21, 2014 at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors.

He was born November 21, 1926 to Ragnvald and Ragnhild (Jacobson) Sve in Silver Creek Township. Leonard grew up in the Two Harbors area where he attended schools. He was drafted into the Army and served in Okinawa, Japan on the Occupational Force. Leonard returned home and continued his work as a commercial fisherman. He met Audrey Holter and they were married February 26, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Duluth. They made their home and raised their family near Split Rock. Leonard worked as a carpenter for Reserve Mining until 1986, and also did saw filing in his garage. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and was a past member of the American Legion Color Guard, and enjoyed wood crafting.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audrey; daughter, Sherry (Bill) Wolfinger; son, Brad (Kris); brothers, Walter and Floyd (Roberta); sister, Verna Torstenson; 5 granddaughters, 3 great granddaughters, 1 great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service Monday July 28, 2014 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Castle Danger. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
