Leonard Olson, 78, Two Harbors, died Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Ecumen Scenic Shores.
He was born September 15, 1940 to Edwin and Lola (Nelson) Olson in Two Harbors where he was a lifelong resident. After graduating in 1958, he enlisted in the US Army and served until 1964. Upon returning home, he was employed at Reserve Mining as an electrical instrument repairman until 1986, then at Lake Superior Paper until a stroke left him unable to work.
Leonard enjoyed his job, new technology, and fixing nearly anything. His greatest joy was his time spent with family and becoming a grandfather.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, American Legion, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and began the televised broadcast of church services.
Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; mother and step-father, Lola and Harry Jacobson; brothers and sister, Ronald “Pete” Olson, Edwin “Gordy” Olson, Tom Olson, Bill Jacobson, and Elizabeth “Betsy” Jacobson; and his in-laws Dougal and Doris Norgren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughters, Heidi (Ken) Voss of Duluth and Heather (Joel) Stillwell of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Anders, Annika, and Amelia Voss, and Dane Olson; in-laws, Larry Norgren, Cindy Norgren, and Diane Olson; family friend, Addie Giddings; and many nieces and nephews.
Leonard’s family would like to thank the staff at Ecumen Scenic Shores for the care they gave for the past 16 years, and St. Croix Hospice for their recent care.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the 1 PM service on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
