Leona Kelly

Leona Kelly, 93, Two Harbors, died Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Barross Cottage.

Leona was born to George and Hattie (Bucholz) Preitauer on May 10, 1927 in Henning, Minnesota on the family farm.  After completing her eduation, she moved to Fergus Falls to begin her lifelong career as a waitress.

She met Alden “Mike” Kelly while working in Fergus Falls.  On June 5, 1954 the couple was married and moved to Two Harbors.  Leona continued working as a waitress until her retirement from Miller’s Café in the early 1990’s.

Leona and Alden enjoyed yearly trips to Alaska and their timeshare at Breezy Point.  She also enjoyed reading, needlework, puzzles, and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alden; two sisters, Hazel Boen and Vera Preitauer; and brother, Edwin Preitauer.

Leona is survived by her daughter, Paula (Brian) Anderson of Twin Falls, ID; sons, Dwayne of Two Harbors and Michael of Sterling, AK; grandchildren, Jesse (Lacie) Kelly, Sammi Jo Kelly, and Matthew Anderson; great-grandchildren, Danica, Conner, and Camryn; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors.
