Lenore Nesset

Lenore C. Nesset, 102, Silver Bay, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020, in Silver Bay, MN.

She was born on a farm near Hendrum, Minnesota on October 30, 1917. She attended rural elementary school and graduated from Ada High School. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone in Mahnomen for 5 years. She married Wallace S. Nesset on January 24, 1941, in Duluth, MN. They lived in Mahnomen for fifteen years before moving to Silver Bay on October 13, 1956.

Lenore enjoyed being a homemaker and was active in many organizations: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Silver Bay Garden Club, VFW and American Legion Auxiliary, volunteer at Two Harbors Nursing Home, and many bridge clubs. She was a member of Sychar Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was a part of Mission Circle.

Lenore was an amazing baker, seamstress, mother and grandmother. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage, she loved her walks around Silver Bay, and will forever be remembered for her love to “Boogie”. She especially enjoyed the annual “Week at the Lake”, a tradition Wally and Lenore started forty-four years ago and continues today.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Wallace, her mother Mabel (Regstad), her father John Christianson, and her six siblings.

Lenore is survived by her children: Marlene Busher, Rockford, IL; Ron (Polly) Nesset, Maple Grove, MN; Judie Nesset, Maple Grove, MN;Wayne (Sheryl) Nesset, Maple Grove, MN; Jim Nesset, Park Rapids, MN; Joan Nesset, St. Paul, MN; and Kari (Tim) Burge, Fort Collins, CO. Lenore was adored by her seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Lenore’s family is grateful for the care she received at Silver Bay Carefree Living during the last years of her life.

Due to the current risk of infection, the family respectfully requests that only the immediate family attend the visitation and funeral. Thank you for your understanding.
