Lawrence R. Bradley

When Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941 was bombed he was one of the first to sign up to serve his country in Lampasas County on Dec. 8, 1941 and was sworn in on December 12, 1941. He was 17 years old and saw the world through the Navy. One of the many stops his ship made was to New York City for repairs to be done at the Brooklyn Naval Yard. It was here he met Anna A. Mone and declared that he had met the most beautiful girl in the world. Mone was the great love of his life. After his time on the USS Brazos, USS Baldwin, and USS Welles, a ship that earned eleven battle stars, including the battles of Admiralty Islands, Okinawa Operations, Ima Jima, and the Surigao Straits according to his Captain Jack Slaughter. He was honorably discharged as a machinist mate 1^st class on Oct. 29, 1945.

Bradley and Mone married right after the war and were together for 78 years. Bradley worked as an electrician affiliated with IBEW 242 and farmed in the Waldo area with his wife Anna and his three children, Roger deceased (Judy), Raymond, and Diane (Jeffrey Kantor deceased). He is survived by six wonderful grandchildren.

Bradley loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed living in Minnesota, a land of great natural beauty.

Memorials are preferred to the Lake View Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Two Harbors Public Library, Community Partners, or American Legion Post #109.
