Larry Lee Hatlestad, age 58, passed away on July 13, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL at the Mayo Clinic with his family at his side. He was born November 14, 1959 in Duluth, MN, to Orville (Oz) and Beverly Hatlestad.
Larry graduated from Two Harbors High School in Two Harbors, MN, in 1978. He then attended Northern Michigan University and the University of Tampa where he graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was an avid swimmer throughout his time in high school. Larry was such a talented swimmer, that he made All-American in college.
Larry worked passionately in the steel industry for 35 years. His dedication led him to becoming President and on the board of the MSCI Florida chapter. He was also a Senior Warden at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Fleming Island, FL. Larry enjoyed the outdoors and all sports. He especially loved the beach, jet-skiing, and downhill skiing with his children in Minnesota. Above all else, his children were the loves of his life. As a great father, son, brother, friend, and mentor to many people, he will be greatly missed.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Orville (Oz) Hatlestad; grandparents, Orville and Vivian Hatlestad, and Leo and Sylvia Harthan.
He is survived by his children, Conner and Summer; mother, Beverly; brother, Ricky; sister, Tammy (Greg) Stevenson; nephew, Jason Stevenson; nieces, Brittany and Gabrielle Stevenson.
A Celebration of Larry's Life was held on Friday, July 20, 2018 in Jacksonville, Florida.
