Karen Sjoblom, 61, Two Harbors, died Monday June 21, 2010 at the Lake View Memorial Hospital. She was born June 13, 1949 to Lester John and Martha (Nygard) Sjoblom in Duluth where she grew up and graduated from East High School in 1967 and UMD with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She worked in Cloquet and Finlayson before moving to Two Harbors where she taught Special Education at Minnehaha and Two Harbors High School for 26 years, retiring in 2008.
Karen was a member of The Women of The Moose, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Past President of the Lake Superior School District Chapter of Education Minnesota, and on the Board of Directors of Thrivent for Lutherans. She enjoyed knitting, reading, and watching movies.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her sisters, Judy (Len) Beardsley and Marilyn (Richard) Loining of Larsmont; 4 nephews; Todd (Kris) Loining of North Branch, Troy (Dodie) Loining of Highlands, New Jersey, Kevin (Cass) Beardsley, and Kyle (Carmen) Beardsley of Two Harbors, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
