June Olsen

June Olsen, 93, of Grand Marais died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Cook County North Shore Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born on January 3, 1922 to Roy E. and Bessie (Tabor) Hanson in Duluth. June grew up and attended schools in Two Harbors, graduating in 1940. In 1943, she married Alton Olsen and they lived in various places during Alton’s military service. They moved back to Minnesota and to Grand Marais in 1958. June was the bookkeeper for the family business, and worked several other part time jobs but was mostly devoted to being a mother and grandmother.
June enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching, and cooking.
She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, The Grand Marais Garden Club, Lioness, and the Hospital Auxiliary.
June is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alton in 2005; son-in-law, Jim Johnson; siblings Roy E. and Thomas Hanson.
She is survived by daughters, Bev Johnson of Grand Marais and Barbara Goerges of Minneapolis; son, Brian (Marcy) Olsen of Grand Marais; grandchildren Erik Johnson of San Diego, CA, Karyn (Peter) Krahn of Eagan, MN, Kathryn Goerges of San Diego, CA and Cecelia and Clara Olsen of Grand Marais; great-grandchildren, Noah and Virginia Johnson and August and Cora Krahn; a sister, Audrey (Jack) Perkins of Wayzata, MN .
Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Grand Marais. Luncheon to follow.
