Joyce Wright, 76, of Larsmont, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at St Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, after a long illness.

She was born on November 16, 1942 to Charles and Esther Simpson in Austin, Texas where she grew up.  Joyce met Bruce Wright in Wichita, Kansas and they moved to the North Shore in 1972.  She was a homemaker through the years and with Bruce, operated Big Blaze Campground and later developed land for a housing project in Knife River. Joyce enjoyed music, gardening, building, and time with family.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred and Betty; a granddaughter, Savannah; and a great-grandson, Parker.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce; children, Brenda, Michael, Kathy (Dave), Rhonda (Paul), Diana, Christopher (Kendra), Derek (Myriam), and Tanisha; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Joyce’s family would like to thank the physicians and staff of St Luke’s Hospital for the excellent care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the St. Luke’s Foundation Pediatric Fund, 1000 E 1st St. Suite 102, Duluth, MN 55805.

Services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors.
