John "Jocko" Martinovich, 81, of Two Harbors died Monday, March 12, 2012 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
He was born on September 16, 1930 to John and Lillian (Autio) Martinovich in Eveleth; where he grew up and attended schools. John especially enjoyed growing up and playing high school sports with his twin brother Tom.
After serving in the United States Army, he returned to Eveleth and married Audree Narlock on September 28, 1957. John owned and operated Jocko's Tavern and worked as a brakeman on the railroad. In 1976, they moved to Two Harbors where John continued working on the railroad.
John enjoyed fishing, camping, and time at the cabin. He also loved flying and had his pilot's license.
He was a president of the local chapter of the United Transportation Union, a member of the American Legion, and was active as an usher at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Tom.
He is survived by wife, Audree; sons, John of Hawaii, Tyler of Austria, and Robert (Linda) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Adrian of Sweden, Ciara and Jenna of Egypt, Brice and Arianne of North Dakota, and Lauren and Elizabeth of Minneapolis.
Visitation will be from 1 PM until the 2 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Two Harbors.
