John E. Kuchta, 87, of Two Harbors, died Tuesday June 11, 2013 at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors.
He was born July 26, 1925 to William and Dora (Gray) Kuchta in Allen Junction, Minnesota, where he grew up. Jack attended schools in Aurora and served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Sylvia Fredrickson on June 22, 1946 and they lived in Biwabik for a short time before moving to Two Harbors in 1950. Jack was employed by the DM&IR Railroad in the bridge and building department, and later on the ore docks, retiring in 1984.
Jack enjoyed being outdoors, canoeing, fishing, cross country skiing, photography, and taking care of his yard. After his retirement, he and Sylvia enjoyed traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Richard; and his daughter, Patricia Schiff.
Jack is survived by his wife Sylvia, sons, Michael and Tom all of Two Harbors; a sister, Jane Neumann of Duluth; grandchildren, Jennifer Kuchta, Christopher Kuchta, Joseph (Rachel) Schiff and Jessica Schiff; and a great-granddaughter, Lydia.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Service Friday June 14, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
