John Griffin

John Griffin died Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his home in Silver Bay.
He was born October 16, 1940 to Joseph and Vera (Morgan) Griffin in Moline, Illinois. John grew up in Mason City, Iowa. He entered the Air Force and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. John married Diana Borkenhagen in 1965 in Anchorage. He finished college in Fairbanks, Alaska and began work as a high school math teacher for ten years. John then worked as a guidance counselor until his retirement. He moved to Silver Bay in 2009. John enjoyed running his riverboat, welding, hunting, fishing, building a hovercraft, playing cribbage, and tinkering in the garage.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph Jr., and Dale; and sister, Beverly Palen.
John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diana; sons, Matthew (Alyne) and Cliff (Karen); grandchildren, Keely, Brielle, and Brogan; sister, Sally (John) Matthews; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial Service Wednesday December 23, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church in Silver Bay.
