John Allan Brandt 41, of Two Harbors, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, on the Yukon Trail near Isabella, due to injuries sustained from a snowmobile accident .
He was born October 14, 1969 to Allan "Skipp" and Roberta (Stephenson) Brandt in Two Harbors, where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1988. John married Sarah McLaughlin on September 1, 2001 at Thomas Lake. He sold recreational vehicles and automobiles, before working at the Lake County Sheriff Department as a dispatcher. John was the vice president of the Voyageur Snowmobile Club and was instrumental in having the Voyageur Snowmobile Club Memorial Shelter built on the Yukon Trail by the Cloquet River. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, and enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, riding his Harley, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Sarah, of Two Harbors, parents, Skipp and Roberta of Two Harbors; sister, Connie (Bruce) Bautch of Independence, Wisconsin; brother, Steve (Joni) of Two Harbors, nieces and nephews, Drew and Erinn of Independence, Wisconsin, Courtney and Cody of Two Harbors, and Jayden of Duluth; In-laws, Royce and Liz McLaughlin of Esko; and beloved dogs, Petey and Bella.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Cavallin Funeral Home, and will continue from Noon until the 1 PM Service Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Lunch will follow the service at the Moose Lodge.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Voyageur Snowmobile Club Memorial Shelter.
