JoAnn M. Larson, 84, Two Harbors, died Saturday August 22, 2015 at her home after a brief illness, with her family at her side.
She was born June 28, 1931 in Duluth to Melvin and Wilma (Burgess) Schumacher. She grew up in Duluth and the Milwaukee area, returning to Duluth in 1947. In 1949 she married Philip Larson and they made their home in Two Harbors. JoAnn was employed at First National Bank for several years, and later Continental Telephone.
JoAnn was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and St. Mary’s Grief Support Group, and was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, baking, raising her family, and in her later years, spending time with her grandchildren, and her card club.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Phil Larson in 2000.
JoAnn is survived by her sons, Steve (Kay) Larson, Keith (Jean) Larson, Ken (Lorry) Larson and Scott (Deanna) Larson all of Two Harbors; daughters, Kim (Jim) Sullivan of Waterloo, Iowa, and Sue Larson-Iknayan (Jim) of Andover; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Bev Hatlestad and Rosalyne Mattson.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM service on Tuesday August 25, 2015 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors.
