Jimmy J. James, 72, Two Harbors, died Friday, June 19, 2020 at Bayshore Health in Duluth, after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
Jim was born January 8, 1948 to LaVere and LaMae (Franks) James in Park Rapids, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He attended Bemidji State College and later vocational school in St. Paul to learn the carpentry trade. In 1971 he moved to Two Harbors and was employed as a bus driver and in facilities maintenance for the Lake Superior School District for 38 years. He was also self-employed as a locksmith for many years.
Jim was a member and former chief of the Two Harbors Fire Department and served on the Ambulance, and Search and Rescue Squads. He was a charter member of the Two Harbors Evangelical Free Church.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, LaVere James; father-in-law, Thomas Muehlberger; sister-in-law, Vicki James; brother-in-law, James McMillian; and nephew, Robert Muehlberger.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean; children, Jeremy James, Jason (Annette) James; Jennifer (Jeffrey) Tharalson; grandchildren, Jordan, Jenna, Ericka, Renee, Sean, Cian, Aidan, Joseph, Jeffrey, Jocelyn, and Danielle; great-grandchildren, Novah, and Maci; his mother, LaMae James; siblings, Dianna (Lee) Sheldon, Danny (Melissa) James, Joan (Maynard) Dudley, Ronald (Kory) James, and Roger (Lorie) James; mother-in-law, Donna Muehlberger and her family, Michael (Judith) Muehlberger, Teresa McMillian, and Thomas (Susan) Muehlberger; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 PM until 5 PM on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at the Two Harbors Fire Hall.
