Janis Thompson

Janis M. Thompson of Two Harbors, died Tuesday December 6, 2016 at home with her family at her side.

She was born May 16, 1930 to Archie and Antoinette (Farmer) Murphy in Duluth and was a life-long resident of Two Harbors.  After graduating from high school in 1948, she was employed as a telephone operator for many years, and later as a teller at St. Louis County Federal Savings and Loan in Duluth until retiring in 1994.

She married Warren Teet in 1951 and after his death in 1973 she married William Thompson in 1975.

Janis was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries, the Women of the Moose, Order of Eastern Star, the Presbyterian Church and Women’s Bowling League.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, working with stained glass, time at the family cabin on Nine Mile Lake, Christmas, and all times spent with family.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Janis was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Murphy and a sister Marjorie Udenberg.

She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 42 years, Bill; children, Toni (Terry) Drake of Duluth, Terry (Kathy) Thompson of Silver Bay; Tim (Bonnie) Tate of Lincoln, ND, Deb (Ricky) Waldron of Two Harbors, Steve (Dory) Thompson of Isabella, Joe (Deb) Thompson of Two Harbors, Doug (Gale Hicks) Tate of Duluth, and Dave (LouAnn) Thompson of Two Harbors; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and best friend, Marlene Mattson.

A Celebration of Janis life will be at 2 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors.
