James C. Samuell (Jim), 84, of Two Harbors, Mn, passed away in the morning of Thursday, December 13, 2018 peacefully in his bed with family holding his hand. Jim was born on April 17, 1934 to John C. Samuell (Jack) and Elizabeth (Kreiner) Samuell in Crosby, Mn.
Jim grew up and went to school in Aitkin, Mn, where he was a standout basketball player and held the schools scoring record for 6 decades. Jim worked at Reserve Mining Company at the Silver Bay Taconite Processing plant for a career of 30 years and retired in 1985 as a maintenance foreman and spoke often of his friends from his time at Silver Bay.
During his retirement he enjoyed greeting people at the Agate Bay boat landing, spending time at his cabin, fishing on Lake Superior and wood working.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother Herb Roring of Aitkin, Mn.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth (Lund) Samuell (Betty); his sons James (Jim) Jr. of Two Harbors and John (Jack) of Byron, Mn with his wife Laura (Liberko); two daughters Jean Samuell of Duluth, Mn and JoAnn (Mark) Boulanger of Two Harbors, Mn; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother Roger (Judy) Samuell of Arizona; sister Linda (Rich) Carlon of Wichita; and several nieces and nephews.
Following Jim’s wishes a private family gathering will be held.
