Jim Northagen, 83, of Beaver Bay, MN died February 23, 2019 at his winter home in Mission, Texas.
He was born November 30, 1935 to Henry and Joran (Steinley) Northagen of Dahlen, ND. Jim married the love of his life, Doris Capouch, on June 18, 1955. Jim was employed by Reserve Mining in Silver Bay, MN. He then began a career in law enforcement, serving both as a Lake County Deputy Sheriff and later as an officer with the Silver Bay police force, until his retirement in 1998. Jim spent many years doing carpentry work in the area. Jim enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends, and could often be seen on his golf cart or four-wheeler.
He and Doris spent their retirement winters in Mission, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Olaf and Gilman, sisters Avis Dvorak and Violet Charon, a grandson, Joshua Berggren, and a nephew, Lonnie Northagen.
Jim is survived by his wife Doris of Beaver Bay, MN, sons Duane (Dawn) of Buffalo, MN, David of Silver Bay, MN, daughter Sandra Johnson (Bob) of East Grand Forks, MN; brother Lloyd of Walhalla, ND, sisters-in-law Kathy Northagen of Park River, ND and Lorraine Northagen of Pequot Lakes, MN, brother-in-law Harlan Charon of Bemidji, MN; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be in Beaver Bay Cemetery.
