James “Jim” Joseph Jones, 66, of Brimson, Minnesota, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Jim passed away at his home. A memorial service will be held at Cavallin Funeral Home on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 1 pm. After the service, family and friends are welcome to join us at 917 12th Ave, Two Harbors for lunch and where your favorite stories of Jim can be shared.
Jim was born on December 14, 1957, in Two Harbors, Minnesota to Newell Joseph “Joe” Jones and Pearl V. Nelson. He was the first child born in this marriage, followed by brother Timothy and little sister Jeanie. His Dad was in the United States Air Force, so the family lived, and had many adventures, in many states in the US until the family landed in Climax, Minnesota, where his dad retired. After Jim graduated from Climax High School, he got married and that union blessed him with his beautiful and cherished daughter, Angelica Rose Jones.
Jim was an extremely talented mechanic. But really, he could do anything – any job great or small. Jim loved to fish, hunt, ride snowmobiles, and play with his dog Rosie for fun. He also loved to tease. What he loved most of all, however, was his family. He loved to help family and friends with anything they needed, and his help was always appreciated. He especially enjoyed fishing at Lake of the Woods with his brother Tim and friends. He also thoroughly enjoyed ice fishing adventures with family where fun was had by all, and where there was much laughter and memories that will be shared for years to come. Nothing, however, can compare to his love and admiration of his granddaughter, Annika Rose Nelson. He loved nothing better than to shower her with love, kisses, and an overabundance of gifts. He played with her endlessly and tirelessly, no matter what her imagination could dream up.
There are no words that can adequately describe how much Jim will be missed. His handsome face, beautiful smile, his belly laugh along with his famous bear hugs, will be missed so much. His kindness, compassion, and generosity will also be missed.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Angelica Nelson (Michael), granddaughter, Annika Nelson, brother, Timothy Jones (Kelly), sister, Jeanie Meholchick (Stan), nephew, Aaron Irvine (Addy), great nephew, William Irvine, nephew Timothy “Timmy” Jones, uncles, Vernon Nelson (Roxana), Loyd Nelson (Barbara), Allen Nelson, aunts, Marilyn “Dolly” Wilson (Robert), Jennifer Jones, Nancy Mahady, his many cousins and faithful dog and companion, Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Newell “Red” and Marie Jones, Clarence and Myrtle Nelson, his father, Newell Jones, mother, Pearl Jones, niece, Stephanie Machel Irvine, Uncles, Gary and Rodger Jones, Donald Jones, John Mahady, aunts, Effie Petrie, Sandra Lingar, Rita Rich, Shirley Jones, and Elia Nelson, cousins, Justin Hanson, Wesley Birkland, Chad Nelson, Mike Nelson, Clint Wilson, Jimmy Petrie, Joseph Petrie, and Tracy Carr.
Heaven gained an extraordinary person. Heaven’s gain is our loss. Rest easy, Jim. You were loved.
