Jacob Matthew Racchi came into this world on his own terms on Wednesday, June 7, 2000. He left the same way on Monday, August 26, 2019.
Jake was born in Duluth to Julie and Rob Racchi. He grew up in Two harbors with his mom and his sisters, Olivia and Ellie, and spent parts of the summers trucking with his dad across the country.
Jacob was an inquisitive, witty and creative young man. He wrote hilarious stories and movies, and designed some of the funniest pictures, he even created a year-long instagram sensation known as Squirrel Sunday. Jake was usually the funniest kid in the classroom all the way through school. Jacob graduated in 2018 and was currently taking classes at Anoka Ramsey Community College.
Jake enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and most recently riding and working on his new motorcycle. He spent countless hours camping, playing kickball, and the running game with all of his cousins as well as countless hours on the phone with Olivia and Sunday breakfasts with Ellie.
Besides his parents and sisters, Jacob is survived by his step-mom Sarah, grandparents, Kathy Ruberg and Bill Koski, Mike and Vicki Falk and Bob and Vi Racchi, aunts and uncles Sarah and Nik Edlund, Eric and Jenny Falk, and the closest thing to a second set of parents that any kid could ever want, Matt and Krista Falk. Jake is also survived by an amazingly close group of cousins Kaden, Hattie, Landon, Josie, Jack, Lainey, Natalie and Harper. He was also blessed to have older siblings Steven, Caitlin, and Nathan who even though he didn’t see too often, he remained in contact with them. Jake also had a great group of friends, especially including Magnus Kittilson and Josh Poe. He is also survived by so very many great aunts, uncles and second cousins.
Jacob took his own life. His mental health issues were more than he could handle. During this recent time, he did not ask for help. If you find yourself in a place that feels unbearable, please seek help. Jacob’s family is shattered. There is a dark hole where an amazing light had radiated for the last 19 years. To honor Jacob, please take time to be silly; play with a little kid, make up your own words to a song, or hijack the announcements at your school to wish your mom a happy birthday.
In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the family.
Jacob’s celebration of life will be at the Lake View Memorial Park on Saturday, August 31 at 5 PM. Please dress casually and bring your Jacob stories.
