Inez (Nelson) Esse, 87, of Two Harbors, formerly of Bloomington, died Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
She was born on June 21, 1926 to Nels and Amanda (Christanson) Nelson in Rose City, MN. Inez grew up in Rose City and Alexandria where she graduated high school. She was married to Richard Esse in 1953 and they lived in Colorado before moving to Bloomington, where she resided for 50 years. In the early years of her artistic career, Inez worked at the greeting card company, Treasure Masters, doing lettering and later at the Wooden Bird, carving and painting wooden decorative decoys until her retirement in 1992.
Inez was a one of a kind woman of many talents and gifts. She was a graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and used her artistic abilities to bring enjoyment to many people in her own original way. Her creativity together with her gifts of humor, generosity, and kindness were the cornerstones of her vibrant personality. Her infectious love of life will live on in the smiles of all who remember her and will serve as a role model for us all.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard; and a brother, Marvin.
She is survived by children Gail (Paul) Trygstad and Keith Esse (Tracy Gilsvik) of Two Harbors, Maureen (Paul) Brenner of Chaska; 6 grandchildren; a sister, Mae Jordan of Palestine, TX; and many loving relatives and friends.
Inez's family expresses special thanks to the compassionate staff and volunteers at the Solvay Hospice House for their exceptional and dignified care.
In accordance with Inez's wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private family memorial service will be held next spring in Rose City. Memorials may be sent to the Solvay Hospice House.
