Howard Paul Schultz, 85, of Brimson died as a result of an accident on Sunday, May 24, 2020.
Howie was born on February 9, 1935, to Elmer and Wanda (Kotefka) Schultz in St. Paul where he grew up and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1957. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Olson, on October 20, 1956 in St. Paul. They raised their family in the North Branch area where Howie was a proud union truck driver at Leaf Brother’s for over 25 years. In 1990 Howie and Sylvia “retired” to Brimson, where Howie, assisted by Sylvia for many years, was employed with the DNR as caretaker for numerous campgrounds until 2019.
Howie was a devout Catholic, often telling stories about his alter boy days, and an active member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Howie enjoyed spending time with his family, sharing his sense of humor with everyone, his four-legged friends, fishing, riding his side by side, and any time outdoors.
Howie was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Sylvia; great-grandson Nino; and brother, Thomas.
He is survived by his children, Susan Schultz, Steven (Kathy) Schultz, and Karen (Mike) Stroinski; grandchildren, Erin, Joey (Melody), Phaedra, Kelsey (Nate), Zak, and Brooke; great-granddaughter, Autumn, and his dog, Duke.
A public Celebration of Life will be held when circumstances allow.
