Hilda Helen Carlson went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2022.
She was born July 31, 1929 in Willow River, MN to Jim and Caroline Wagner. After finishing school, she went to work at Dix Café in Moose Lake. Hilda met Axel Carlson and they were married on February 26, 1949. In 1955 they moved to Silver Bay where they raised two sons. Hilda had a cake decorating business and did many cakes for family and friends.
She loved entertaining and always welcomed friends, family, and neighbors into her home.
Hilda was a member of the United Protestant Church, its Women’s Guild, and served on the Social Committee for many years.
She loved reading the Bible, attending two Bible study groups, was a member of the Golden Age Club, VFW Auxiliary, and a widow’s friendship group.
Preceding her in death were her husband Axel in 2012; parents; sister, Esther Zimanski; stepbrother, Henry Wilmarth; and her grandparents.
Hilda is survived by her two sons, Gregg of Grand Rapids and Rick (Dan Fristoe) of Tucson, AZ; grandson, Erik (Angela) of Wasilla, AK; granddaughters Tessa Hegna of Bemidji, Jessica (Thomas) O’Hehir of Bloomington, MN, and Bethany of St. Paul, MN; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Hilda’s family would like to thank the staff of Carefree Living for the loving care they provided.
