Gerald Thieling

Gerald Keith Thieling, 79, of Two Harbors, died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Waterview Shores while recovering from a recent surgery.

Jerry was born to Gilbert and Eileen (Young) Thieling on November 28, 1941 in Cazenovia, Wisconsin.  He grew up in Barnum, MN and served in the Air Force from 1960 until 1964 where he was stationed in the Phillipines and met his first wife, Julieta.  In 1987, he met and married his soulmate, Lovey and they enjoyed 23 years together.  Jerry was employed by Reserve Mining Co. and later as a long-haul truck driver for many years.

He was well known for and enjoyed his long walks throughout town and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Lovey; grandson, Devin Ball; step-daughter, Lori Bustrom; and brother, Gene Thieling.

He is survived by daughters Laurie (Darren) Ball and Lana Affloter; grandchildren, Rachel (Dexter) Hunsperger and Zacharias, Esebra, Gabrielle, and Oliver Affolter; step-children, Cindy (John) Jordine, Kristy (Jeff) Grosskurth, and Rick (Joni) Bustrom; step-grandchildren, Brook, Brittney, Dereck, Rachel, Tara, Lee, Kari, Graham, and Cameron; and sister-in-law, Ardell (Ken) Markee.

Private family services will be held, followed by burial at West Branch Cemetery in Kettle River.
