George Swanson

George Swanson 81, of Two Harbors, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at the MN Veteran's Home in Silver Bay.

He was born July 6, 1929 to Richard and Elsie (Johnson) Swanson in Two Harbors, where he was a life-long resident. After high school, George served in the U. S. Navy, and then returned to Two Harbors to work as a machinist's apprentice for the D M & I R railroad for several years. He was employed by Reserve Mining Company in Silver Bay for 24 years, until his retirement in 1986.

George enjoyed hunting, fishing and barbecuing, and was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

George was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Swanson and a sister Elaine Anderson.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie; sons, Kent of Two Harbors and Lee (Karen) of Moorhead, MN; daughters, Lynette Swanson and Jodi (Dan) Laine of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Amanda, Cory, Mallory, Justin, Sean, and Alyssa; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors, followed by burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Two Harbors. To sign the on-line register book please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com
