George Ralph Anderson, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Lester Park He was born in Two Harbors and lived almost his entire life in Knife River, Minnesota. He attended school in Knife River and graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1954 where he played football and hockey.
He served in the Army from 1958 -1960, the National Guard for 6 years, and worked as a union Laborer for 35 years.
He married Patricia Sobczak in 1960 and together they raised 3 children.
In his younger years George drove a stock car at local racetracks and worked commercial fishing on Lake Superior.
He enjoyed Cajun music, fishing trips to Canada, family camping weekends, going south in the winter, watching the Twins and his favorite team the Green Bay Packers. He especially loved spending time with his family.
George is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Pat, parents Ralph and Alice (Webb) Anderson, sister Lois (Anderson) Nordin, and brother Ralph Anderson, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Tracy Murphy, Tammi (Gary) Olson, and Bart (Lisa) Anderson; grandchildren, Justin (Caitlin) Bissell, Heather Bissell, Seth Bissell, Sara (Zac) Zinda, Sam Anderson and Courtney Anderson; great-grandchildren Acuzio Bissell, Hazel Bissell, Yanco Bissell, and a baby girl on the way.
The family asks that memorials be given in George's name to Knife River Lutheran Church.
Services will be held at Knife River Lutheran Church on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11 a.m.
