Gary Hyopponen

Gary Hyopponen, 65, of Two Harbors, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors.
He was born July 2, 1949 to Uno Hyopponen and Lila Skogman in Duluth, MN. He grew up in Brimson, Mn where he worked on the family sawmill and learned to hunt and fish. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1967. He then worked as a welder until his retirement from Labounty in June. Gary loved to hunt the family property in Brimson and also enjoyed fishing Lake Superior and numerous lakes throughout Minnesota and Canada.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Uno Hyopponen and Lila Skogman; nephew, Mark Hyopponen.
Gary is survived by sons Matt (Kim) of Washburn and Casey (Michelle) of Two Harbors; grandchildren Colton, Gabrielle, and Mikko; a brother Allen (Diane) Hyopponen of Duluth; and a sister Patty (Jim) Wiley of Winter, WI.
Visitation and service will be from 12:00 to 1:00pm on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Moose lodge in Two Harbors with food and drinks following the service.
