Gary W. Gubrud, 67, of Silver Bay, died Monday, October 20, 2014 in Ecumen Scenic Shores, Two Harbors.
He was born on September 30, 1947 to Warren and Alice (Tollefson) Gubrud in Bagley, MN. Gary moved to Silver Bay at a young age and graduated from William Kelley High School in 1965. He worked for LTV for 32 years until his retirement. After one year of retirement he was going stir crazy so he went to work at Gooseberry State Park for 11 years until his health forced him to finally retire.
Gary enjoyed spending time picking berries and just being outside at his parents homestead on Hwy 61. He was a member of Sychar Lutheran Church and the Northwoods Cafe Men’s Coffee Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Brock Ernest.
Gary is survived by daughters, Cheryl ,Shelley, and MeriBeth; grandsons, Brock (Cassie), Brian (Stevi), and Cole (Katie); granddaughters Skye, Shanna, Sera, and Celeste; great-granddaughters Callie and Charlee; great-grandson, Eli; siblings, Steve (Barb), Carol (Ed), Susie (Mark), David (Steph), Curt (Delcie), and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay.
