Evelyn “Dolly” Harris, 99, Silver Bay, died Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehab in Duluth.
She was born April 21, 1921 to Emil and Mabel (Johnson) Johnson in Superior, where she grew up and graduated from Superior Central High School. On May 22, 1942 she married James Harris, and in 1950 they moved to Silver Bay. Dolly worked as a bookkeeper for Belknap Electric Company in Superior and Jacobsen’s Hardware in Silver Bay.
Dolly was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the VFW Auxiliary. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim; a sister, Gladys Bender; and an infant daughter, Judith.
Dolly is survived by a daughter, Kathleen (Gary) Meyer of Rockford, Illinois; a son, Thomas (Jackie) Harris of Beaver Bay; grandchildren, Todd, Laurie, Courtney (Dale), and Lindsey (Ben); and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Carefree Living in Silver Bay for the loving care they provided to Dolly for the past 9 ½ years.
Private graveside service will be held.
