Evelyn Turonie, 93, of Silver Bay, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Care Free Living in Silver Bay.
She was born on November 4, 1923 to Walter and Hazel (Thew) Hicken in Highbridge, Wisconsin, where she grew up and attended schools. She married John Turonie Sr. on October 5, 1946, and together they moved to Silver Bay in 1954. Evelyn was a homemaker through the years, going to work for the Silver Bay schools to help her children through college.
She was a charter member of the United Protestant Church in Silver Bay. Her hobbies included quilting, golf, and cross-country skiing.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Elmer Hicken.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, John Turonie Sr.; a son, John (Pat) Turonie Jr. of McGregor; a daughter, Melodee Helgason of Ft. McMurray, Alberta, CA; grandchildren, Andrea, Andrew, Winston, Cynthia, and Renee; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn’s family would like to especially thank the caregivers and staff at Care Free Living for their loving care.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon until the 1 PM Memorial Service Friday September 29, 2017 at United Protestant Church in Silver Bay.
