Eugene V. Pearson, 87, Hovland, MN died Thursday October 16, 2014
Gene was born on April 16, 1927 to Clair and Alice (Weisz). Gene grew up in Bloomington, MN where he attended primary and secondary school. Upon graduation, Gene entered the US Army. After a medical discharge, Gene enrolled at the U of MN where he graduated with a degree in Agriculture.
On January 7, 1956, Gene married Marion Bernazani and together they had 8 children. Gene and Marion moved their growing family to Jordan, MN in 1960 to start the Pearson and Sons Greenhouse. In 1970, Pearson Florist opened in Shakopee, and later additional locations opened in Chaska and New Prague.
Gene was a member of the Jordan KC’s, Shakopee Rotary and Commercial Club. He also had a life-long interest in reading, enjoyed gardening, cooking, learning the Norwegian language, spending winters in Mexico and Arizona, polka music, dancing and traveling with Marion.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, sons-Victor, Claude and John, his grandson Michael and his brother Robert.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; sons-Joseph (Carol), Louis (Nancy), Andrew, Mark (Jill) and Peter, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, sisters-Alice Williams, Barbara Cavanaugh, Connie (Robert) Silkett, Claudia (Pat) Potestio, and Roberta as well as many relatives and friends.
Visitation 1 hour prior to services - Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Church in Jordan, MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Lung Association of St Paul are preferred.
