Two Harbors

Ethel E. Carlson, 94, of Two Harbors, died Friday, May 1, 2020.

She was born June 22, 1925 to Charles and Nannie (Peterson) Mesenbring in Barnum.  After graduating from Moose Lake High School in 1943, Ethel moved to Duluth where she was employed as a secretary at Dun and Bradstreet and later Minnesota Power and Light.  In 1958 she married Lloyd “Butts” Carlson and they made their home in Two Harbors, where Ethel worked as a secretary at Husky Hydraulics for many years.

Ethel was a member of the Tops Organization and the United Church in Two Harbors.  She enjoyed her computer, needlework, and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.  Ethel will be remembered for her wonderful counted-cross-stitch projects, and baking.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd “Butts” Carlson; brothers, Robert and Charles "Buzz" Mesenbring; sisters, Peggy Dhaemers, Vi Gersetich, and Joyce “Honey” Paskewitz.

Ethel is survived by her daughters, Jill (Gregg) Schoenberger of Beaver Dam Township, WI; and Wendi (Jim) Eliason of Duluth Township; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Jesse, and Naomi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery, with a public service to follow in September.
