She was born January 20, 1927 to Martin and Laurel Wicker in Mancelona, Michigan; sister Margaret was older, brother Carl, younger.
She married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth, in 1947, and moved to Two Harbors when Kenneth accepted a job sailing for the US Steel fleet. Mom dedicated her life to Dad and they would have celebrated their 70th Wedding anniversary on June 25th. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and made her home a gathering place for all the neighborhood kids. Thus, the nickname, Momma Larson. Whether it was pizzas at midnight or the many sleepovers with girls all over the house, she was always game. She and dad hosted an annual after parade picnic in their shop on 12th Avenue for Shriners and friends during Heritage Days. She was a wonderful sewer, knitter, cook, baker, gardener and camping & fishing partner.
Crescent was their Lake of choice and you could find them in their Hi-Lo each summer and fall, dry camping and fishing for walleyes in their 12-foot little green boat. As well as being secretary for Emera Chapter, Order of Eastern Star for 25 years, she and dad were in charge of the pasty sale and have made many life-long friends in this wonderful fraternal organization. She loved her church and taught Sunday School at Emmanuel Lutheran for many years, made quilts, enjoyed the Women’s groups and contributing to almost every pot luck.
