Betty Barthman, 80, of Two Harbors went home to meet Our Lord on Friday, April 19, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.
She was born on December 29, 1938 to Andrew Blaise and Grace (Pouliot) Muckenhirn in Watertown, MN. Betty grew up and attended schools in Delano, MN. She graduated from McPhail College of Music with a degree in Music Education and taught in a number of schools in MN including Delano, Fairmont, Two Harbors, Silver Bay and Wayzata.
Betty married Arthur Barthman on July 12, 1969 in St. Peter's Church in Delano, MN and shared 50 wonderful years of living and loving together.
Betty's life, passion, and greatest joy was her music. She played bass clarinet in the Two Harbors City Band, Organ and Piano at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, and taught private music lessons for more than 50 years. Betty was dearly loved; her energy, positivity, spirit and smile will be greatly missed and never replaced. She was strong willed, determined, fun-loving, and she filled our lives with song.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Andrew and Grace Muckenhirn, and her triplet brothers.
Betty is survived by her husband, Arthur; children, Brian Barthman, Anna Barthman, Celia Barthman, and Christine (Matt) Prusak; grandchildren Cara, Andrea, Alisha, Cole, Levi, and Baby Girl Prusak; brother Robert (Marilyn) Muckenhirn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins from her large extended family.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Thursday, April 25th at Cavallin Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 26th at 10 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors.
