Elizabeth Mcmahon

Elizabeth S. McMahon, 97, of Two Harbors, died Friday, August 29, 2014 at Ecumen Scenic Shores in Two Harbors.

She was born December 25, 1916 to Sven and Hannah Nelson in Duluth, where she grew up and graduated from Central High School. Elizabeth married Mathew P. McMahon on July 6, 1940 in Duluth. They moved to Two Harbors in 1946, where they raised their family. Elizabeth worked for Lake View Memorial Hospital as an insurance claims representative for many years and worked various other jobs in town.

She was an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary , and was a long time member of the women's bowling league. Elizabeth enjoyed getting her hair done, and watching the Minnesota Twins.

She is preceded death by her parents, husband Mathew in 2008; and 4 brothers, Lennart, Harold, Holger, and Ralph.

She is survived by her sons, Peter (Phyllis) of Brooklyn Park and Steven of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Craig (Cynthia), Paul (Kelsie), and Brian (Amy) McMahon, Laura (Joe) Peterson, and Amy (Roger) Coombs; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Ecumen Scenic Shores for the excellent care they gave Elizabeth.

Visitation will be from 1 PM until the 2 PM Memorial Service, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Cavallin Funeral Home in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
