Edward Oman, 81, of Two Harbors, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at Ecumen Scenic Shores.
He was born May 31, 1932 to Axel and Adeline Mary (Skogman) Oman in Two Harbors, grew up in Brimson, and worked for the DM&IR Railroad as a section laborer. During the Korean Conflict, Ed served in the US Army with the engineers in Korea. After the war, Ed returned to Brimson and worked in the construction industry, then returned to the D M & I R where he was Assistant Foreman in the Two Harbors Railyards, and later worked for the Lake County Highway Department, and Bay Constructors at Milepost Seven, retiring in 1980. He lived in Aurora from 1980 until moving to Two Harbors in 2005. Edward was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and enjoyed fishing and trapping.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur, Arvid and Alex; sisters, Ina Nelson and Aili Poulin; and grandsons, Charles and Gabe.
Edward is survived by his sons, Earl (Peggy) of Marksville, Washington, David (LeeAnn) of Duluth, and Karl (Dawn) of Duluth; daughters, Mary (John) Backen of Two Harbors, Susan Oman of Duluth, and Laura Worland of Superior; brother, Albert (Doris) of Palo; sisters, Alma Carlson of Two Harbors and Anna Maki of Brimson; 20 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Upon Edward's request no services will be held. A luncheon will be held at the Two Harbors Community Center at 12 Noon Sunday, November 24, 2013.
