Duane M. "Dewey" Fransen , 60, of Knife River, died Friday, December 24, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 28, 1949 to George and Lida (Sunde) Fransen in Duluth. Dewey was a lifelong resident of Knife River, who drove truck for Ready Mix. He married Judy Mickelson in September of 1971 in Duluth. Dewey enjoyed going on road tours, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Sonny Torgerson.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy of Knife River, children, Tammy (Brian) Coolidge of Two Harbors, Duane Jr. (Jen) of Two Harbors, Jarrod (Nancy) of Floodwood, Kevin (Jayne) of Knife River, and Tim (Karly) of Silver Bay; grandchildren, Lizzie, Emma, and Jack Coolidge, and Joey, Jamie, Gillian, Molly, Maddy, Hannah, and Ethan Fransen; step-grandchildren, Josh and Jake Yeaton; brother, Ron of Knife River; sisters, Carol (Les) Jackson of Knife River, and Linda Cain of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters-in-law Bonnie (Jeff) Garner, Joyce (Pat) Gjerdahl, and Pat Torgerson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
