Douglas Haveri, 72, of Two Harbors, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 7, 2016 at home, with his family at his side.
He was born June 7, 1943 to Aimo and Agnes (Olson) Haveri in Two Harbors, where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1961, and on June 6, 1964 married Patricia Lovold.
His working career included the Holiday Station in Two Harbors and later the Standard Oil Station in Silver Bay for a short time. Doug was employed at Reserve Mining Company from 1964 until retiring in 1989 as a Master Mechanic. He later worked as a Master Mechanic for the Lake County Highway Department until retiring again 2005.
Doug was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He thoroughly enjoyed life and loved being with his family, friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His hobbies included snowmobiling, guitar, fishing on Lake Superior, cooking on the barbecue, car shows, and restoring cars. He was a jack-of-all trades and loved the challenge of fixing anything.
Doug was dedicated to his family and friends and could always be relied on to lend a hand or find a missing part to fix something.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his parents -in-law, Clifford and Alice Lovold; and a son, Christian “Lee”.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Patricia; a son, Chris; a daughter, Annette (Bryan) Pinske; grandchildren, Chelsey, Crysta, Brandon and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Kain, Khloe and Maverik; his dog Annie; sisters, Ina (Ray) Huseby and Susie Haveri; a brother, Kevin Haveri; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
His family would like to thank Dr. Howard Josephs and the staff of Lake View Clinic for the care they provided.
At Doug’s request no funeral will be held. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. Private burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors.
