Doreen Larson, 93, of Silver Bay, died Monday, June 10, 2019 at Waterview Shores in Two Harbors.
She was born on October 5, 1925 to Palmer and Edith (Nordstrom) Enge in Milnor, North Dakota. After graduating from high school, she attended teacher’s college in Valley City, then taught in Wahpeton and Mayville for several years. She married Austin Larson in 1948 and they moved to Silver Bay in 1956. Doreen was a substitute teacher, para-professional and Girl Scout Leader while raising her family.
Doreen was a member of Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay where she was active in the SLCW, and mission circle, and was the wedding coordinator. She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, the North Shore Federal Credit Union Board and planned the survivor’s dinner for Relay for Life. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and quilting.
Doreen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Austin Larson in 1992; a daughter Pamela Premo; and a brother, Elwood Enge.
Doreen is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn (William) Jensen; sons, James “Swede” (Brenda) Larson, and Jerry (Sue Sterling) Larson; grandchildren, Eric, Kris, Max, Lyndsay, Bryan, Carrie, Jackie, and Austin; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 PM until the 2PM service on Saturday June 15, 2019 at Sychar Lutheran Church in Silver Bay. Burial will be at Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery.
