Donovan Brazell
September 18, 1959 — November 29, 2014
Donovan Ray Brazell, 55, of Grand Marais died Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Cook County North Shore Hospital after a courageous battle with colon cancer.
He was born on September 18, 1959 to Robert and Nancy (Bystrom) Brazell in Grand Marais and graduated from Cook County High School in 1979. Donnie was the yard foreman at Sawtooth Lumber for the past 13 years, and his previous employment was delivering mail on the Gunflint Trail mail route. During World War II, the Gunflint trail mail route was started by his grandfather Don, and was in the Brazell family until 2001.
Donnie enjoyed working on computers and was especially proud of the computer he had built. People often came to him for computer help. He also enjoyed 4 wheeling and was happiest when he was with his family. His greatest pleasure was the time he spent with his daughter Kya.
Donnie is survived by his daughter, Kya; parents Bobby Don and Nancy Brazell; brother, Mickey (Dee) Brazell all of Grand Marais; sister, Susie (Darrell) Splett of Thunder Bay; 2 nephews, Darin Brazell and Jorey (Malorie) Brazell; and 2 nieces, Hattie and Karlie Splett.
