Barney Lindgren, 95, of Two Harbors died Friday, April 18, 2014 at home.

He was born on December 4, 1918 to John and Elizabeth (Johnson) Lindgren in Two Harbors. Barney was a lifelong resident of Two Harbors. He graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1936, where he was active in high school sports under Cy Magnuson. Barney was employed at Arvid Engstrom’s Creamery for several years, before going to work for the DM&IR Railroad, retiring as an engineer. He was also a veteran of the US Army, serving in World War II at the Battle of the Bulge.

Barney enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren and coffee at Judy’s Cafe. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, the Loyal Order of the Moose, the VFW, and American Legion.

He is survived by wife of 73 years, Margaret “Muggs”; daughters, Donna Close of Two Harbors; Diane Lindgren of Carrollton, Texas, and Lorrie (Dave) Houle of Two Harbors; grandchildren, Scott, Valerie, Dallas, Mitchell, and Addison; and great-grandchildren Erika and Ty.

Visitation will be from 12 Noon unitl the 1 PM Memorial Service on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Two Harbors.
