Donald J. Cavallin, 84, Two Harbors, died Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center.
Don was born September 23, 1938 to Swaney and Margaret (Driscoll) Cavallin in San Diego, California, and had lived in Two Harbors since his childhood. After graduating from high school he was employed for a short time at the D M & I R Railroad, Reserve Mining Company and as a carpenter. For most of his working years he was a millwright at JC Campbell Lumber, Midwest Timber, Hedstrom Lumber. Before retirement he also worked as a mechanic for his son at Danny’s Auto Shop.
A devout member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Don’s faith was very important to him. He enjoyed tinkering and woodworking in his shop, mowing his lawn, gardening, and reading, and in his earlier years, playing guitar.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Beverly; and brothers, Steven, Robert and Gary.
He is survived by his children; Dan (Tracey) Cavallin, Stacey (Steve) Hedin, Tom (Amy) Cavallin, and Ann (Jim) Gilbert; grandchildren, Jade (Steve), Chase (Cassandra), Lane (Megan), Jessica (Nate), Scott, Mac, Cody (Keira), Quaid, Maggie (Andy), Duke, and Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Olivia, Cash, Gracie, Noah, Levi, Liam, and another coming soon; a brother, Bill (Shay) Cavallin; sisters, Suzie Stokes, and Mary (Tom) Simonsen; sisters-in-law, Kathy, Lolly and Kathy; brothers-in-law, George (Terri) and Brad (Diane) MacFarlane; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special lady friend, Ruth Ann Udenberg.
Visitation will be from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery. To share your memories or condolences online please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
