Dolores Wilson

June 9, 1933 — February 9, 2025

Silver Bay

Dolores LaCoste Wilson, of Silver Bay, was born on June 9, 1933, and passed away on February 9, 2025. Known by everyone as “Dee,” she is survived by her children, Kirk Bigby, Pamela Steeg (Robert), and Scott Wilson; her grandchildren, Aaron (Anna) and Merrill Steeg and Brian Bigby; and her great-granddaughter, Amelia Steeg.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Adolph & Rose LaCoste. Dee was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harvey O. Wilson, Jr., and her brother, Adolph LaCoste, Jr. Harvey served in the Air Force for 25 years. As a military family, they lived in Mississippi, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Texas and South Carolina. Additionally, Dee cared for her family alone, while Harvey had brief deployments in Korea and India. She moved her family back home to New Orleans for a year while Harvey served in Thailand. While stationed at the former Finland Air Force Station, they fell in love with the community and beauty of the area and, in 1974, retired to Silver Bay, Minnesota.

Her family is grateful for the kind support of her friend and neighbor, Annette Gustafson. We thank North Shore Area Partners and Annette Lewis for the care they provided, which allowed her to live independently, as she wished, until her death. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, February 13th, from 11:00 until 1:00 at the meeting room of the Black Beach Inn, 150 Mensing Drive, Silver Bay.
