Dennis T. Lehtinen, 67, Finland, died Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at his home with his family at his side, after a short illness.
A life-long resident of Finland, he graduated from William Kelley High School in Silver Bay in 1971. After high school he worked for Reserve Mining Company until 1983, then drove logging truck for his brother-in-law, Allen Anderson for a short time. In 1985 he went to work for Louisiana-Pacific in Two Harbors, where he retired in 2015 after 30 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his garage, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Tauno and Aune (Ahlbeck) Lehtinen; a brother-in-law, Nils “Freddie” Johnson; father and mother-in-law, Don MacKenzie and Mable MacKenzie; and brothers-in-law, Rod and Ken MacKenzie.
He is survived by his wife of over 38 years, Donna MacKenzie Lehtinen; sons, Dennis and Derek Lehtinen; daughters, Darcy (Jon) Alvarez and Danielle Lehtinen; grandchildren, Dominic, Marlee, Ella, Alivia, Camden, Bryson, Aria, and Jaxson; sisters, Sherry (Allen) Anderson, Gayle Johnson, and Cindy (Duane) Welt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Denny’s request no service will be held.
